lessons on time travel

here's something i just gave a talk on, after a film showing of Disney's Meet the Robinsons...
i realized that...we need to focus on more real issues instead of chasing what may or may not be true.
but that statement might sound paradoxical, coming from me, because isn't the issue of God something that may or may not be true?
hmmm...
....
....
well, i can live with time travelers, and i can live without them. it doesn't really much matter either way. (besides, nobody has claimed to have gone to the future or the past, except for God maybe, but then that would be the issue of God again more than the issue of time travel for you and me...)
but i have got to meet the real, living God. not only is that "issue" real to me, it is the fundamental thing in my life. :)
but how about those who haven't encountered God (yet)? it's understandable if God is like the option of time travel: "could be, but so what? as far as i know, doesn't look like it's true anyway... "
for the unbelievers, skeptics, the curious: even the slightest chance (for good ol' argument's sake!) that God is real and that we have an eternal soul leads us to care. as in really really care.
unlike the issue of time travel, the issue of God is literally a matter of life and death...and afterlife. very very important.
(dang. i should've preached this! but there's a perfect time and place for everything. hopefully those students would get to read this blog entry...or something. well, God, it's up to You, You're sovereign over all this :D )
