gossip grace for january 2010

"I love the guy. He's full of flaws, like all the rest of us. And he's going through a rough time...

Ask any human being walking on the planet, 'Have you ever done anything that you're not proud of?' And I think most people will say, 'Yes. I've done a few things I'm not too proud of.'"

Tunay na Pinoy? (True Pinoy?)

Watching ABS-CBN's "Pinoy Big Brother", I am disheartened and concerned about this week's "Resbak Attack". Former housemates have returned to test the housemates to the limit. Unfortunately, it seems the ex-housemates just want to see the "bitchy" side of the housemates, and they applaud this as "nagpapakatotoo" ("just being real or sincere"). Meanwhile, those who are quiet or who strive for diplomacy are interpreted as "plastik" or "playing safe".

I get their point that some contestants might just want to look good in front of the camera. But I think this is sending the wrong message. Is it fair to assume that every person is an angry warfreak? Isn't it possible that someone is just naturally shy? Can't somebody sincerely want everyone to get along? Plus, those who know they are "bad" and love it, would just hide behind the excuse, "nagpapakatotoo lang ako" ("I'm just being true to myself").

Ito ba ang tunay na Pinoy? (Is this the true Pinoy?)

Postscript:

"The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)

How can we tell if someone is truly sincere? We cannot read their hearts. But we can place our trust in the only One who knows our hearts, loves us anyway, and gives us a new heart that's truly good.

thanks for coming through for me :)

Sweet vindication.

i've been vindicated once, twice, three times, maybe more, in the past 2 days. And i didn't lift a finger. Thank You God. It's really Your power, not mine.
