In case of emergency

Is this how we think of God?

Yes, God is "our refuge and strength in times of trouble"... but what about the other times? Do we treat Him like a fire extinguisher, collecting dust (at the back of our minds) until the next emergency?

Our God is bigger than any emergency. I've been a Christian long enough to observe that whenever something feels like it's a CRISIS, it's because I've lost sight of CHRIST. My universe was revolving around something else, such that when a problem appears, I panic because my new god can't really do anything about it.

In case of emergency, I find myself running to God. Which makes me realize how *far* I've drifted from Him. But that's OK --- what matters is we're back together. :)

In case of emergency, I need to break my heart. And put Him back inside.

Tempted much? Some reminders

http://www.blessedisthekingdom.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/temptation_575.jpg

These days I'm very tempted. And I fall, fall, and fall.

Reminders from His Word:

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.”
 (1 Corinthians 10:13–14)

"Do not give the devil a foothold."
(Ephesians 4:27)

"When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."(James 1:13-15)

There's also a very good discussion here: "10 Temptation Truths"

God bless you, and God bless me. Gotta claim that. And look to Him, first and foremost, once again.

The Enduring Schoolgirl's Prayer

"Strength! Courage!"
     --- God to Joshua

"When I was an infant... I gurgled and cooed like any infant.
When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good."
     --- Paul to the Corinthians

"Make sure you don't take things for granted
and go slack in working for the common good;
share what you have with others.
God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship --- a different kind of 'sacrifice' ---
that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets."
     --- Letter to the Hebrews

I'm happy to be grown up and all, but there's one thing I do miss from my childhood days: that RUSH to get my schoolwork done. Believe it or not, there was a time I finished my homework before I reached home. 8-D

Now, I'm not like that anymore. Which is why I'm still a schoolgirl.

So my prayer for this season is to just do it. Sit down and finish *it* already.

Yes, wisdom ultimately comes from God, and there are other things I also have to do, but...
  • I pray for the courage to face my thesis :) ;
  • I pray for the endurance to go on even when I'm discouraged, afraid, lazy, busy, distracted, and whatever excuse I can come up with;
  • I pray for motivation, even enjoyment, just like in those grade school days;
  • I pray for the endurance even when I'm not motivated nor enjoying what I'm doing.

Hay, Lord. :)  I don't want to be a schoolgirl anymore --- I want to be more mature, responsible, and to graduate already...

But I do miss that get-that-schoolwork-done attitude. And that giddy-as-a-schoolgirl feeling of accomplishment ♥  Let's go Lord!

"Working for God"?

I love this song... :)

From John Piper's "Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist":

God's insistence that we ask Him to give us help so that He gets glory (Psalm 50:15) forces on us the startling fact that we must beware of serving God, and must take special care to let Him serve us, lest we rob Him of His glory...

Our job is to "wait for Him"...

God is not looking for people to work for Him, so much as He is looking for people who will let Him work for them. The gospel is not a Help Wanted ad. Neither is the call to Christian service. On the contrary, the gospel commands us to give up and hang out a Help Wanted sign (this is basic meaning of prayer). Then the gospel promises that God will work for us if we do. He will not surrender the glory of being the Giver...

Religious "flesh" always wants to work for God (rather than humbling itself to realize God must work for it in free grace). But "if you live according to the flesh you will die" (Romans 8:13). That is why our very lives hang on not working for God.

Then shall we not serve Christ? It is commanded: "Serve the Lord!" (Romans 12:11). Those who do not serve Christ are rebuked (Romans 16:18). Yes, we must serve Him. But we will beware of serving in a way that implies a deficiency on His part or exalts our indispensability.

How then shall we serve? Psalm 123:2 points the way. "Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till He have mercy upon us." The way to serve God so that He gets the glory is to look to Him for mercy. Prayer prevents service from being an expression of pride.

Any servant who tries to get off the divine dole and strike up a manly partnership with His Heavenly Master  is in revolt against the Creator. God does not barter. He gives the mercy of life to servants who will have it, and the wages of death to those who won't. Good service is always and fundamentally receiving mercy, not rendering assistance...

And so we will serve God by believing His promise of fullest joy and walking by that faith. We will not serve by trying to put our power at His disposal for His good, but by doing what is necessary so that His power will be ever at our disposal for our good. And of course, God has appointed that His power be at our disposal through prayer. "Ask and you will receive!" So we serve by the power that comes through prayer, when we serve for the glory of God.

Without doubt this sort of serving also means obedience. A patient who trusts his doctor's prescriptions obeys them. A convalescent sinner trusts the painful directions of his therapist, and follows. Only in this way do we keep ourselves in a position to benefit from what the divine Physician has to offer. In all this obedience it is we who are the beneficiaries. God is ever the Giver. For it is the Giver who gets the glory.

1 Peter 4:11 states the principle so well: "Let him who serves serve in the strength which God supplies in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and power forever and ever. Amen." The Giver gets the glory. So all serving that honors God must be a receiving. Which means that all service must be performed by prayer.

To be sure, let us work hard; but never let us forget that it is not we, but the grace of God which is with us (1 Corinthians 15:10). Let us obey now, as always, but never forget that it is God who works in us, both to will and to do His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). Let us spread the gospel far and wide, and spend ourselves for the sake of God's elect, but never venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through us (Romans 15:18). Let us ever be praying for His power and wisdom, so that all our serving is the overflow of righteousness, joy and peace from the Holy Spirit. "For he who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men" (Romans 14:17-18).

So the astonishing good news implied in the duty of prayer is that God will never give up the glory of being our Servant. "No eye has seen a God besides thee, who works for those who wait for him" (Isaiah 64:4).

The Winning Faith

Being a winner (or a loser) is entirely self-proclaimed.

God the Son says, "Become what you believe."

(Otherwise translated as, "Let it be done to you according to your faith.")

The power belongs to God,
but we can choose to ask for it
and claim that it is already given.

I've often asked God for His will to be done in my life
without bothering to name the details
It sounds very obedient and sacrificial
But how about lazy
Or even faithless?
Because I don't want to take the risk of not getting what I prayed for...?

Jesus prayed, "Father, not my will, but Yours be done."

Okay, so maybe something like this:
     "Lord, this is what I want, and I pray that You grant it,
     But ultimately I bow to Your will
     Which may not be what You want..."

Hmm... But the Bible says, the double-minded one can't expect anything from God. (How can God answer contradicting prayers?)

"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."

Indeed, Jesus says, "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

So my prayer would now go something like this:
     "Lord, this is what I want, and I believe that You will grant it,
     Because ultimately I know that You want the best for Your children
     And I am asking in Your Name,
          with the right motives (hopefully!),
          and in complete faith that You will answer.
     Thank You."

And it shall be done, according to how much faith we have, in the One who can get it done.

Do we have enough faith to win?

The Way of the Brave

In the same way I was with Moses, I'll be with you.
I won't give up on you;
I won't leave you.
Strength! Courage!
    - God (The book of Joshua)

It's Monday... and one week to go before I go back to being a teacher and erstwhile-graduate-student.

So help me God, I will be brave.

Being brave means:
  • taking responsibility for myself instead of blaming others;
  • looking at the big picture and planning ahead;
  • doing what I love and loving what I do;
  • being unperturbed as I look towards the goal; and
  • just putting that foot out already!

As a believer of Christ, being brave boils down to continuing to believe in Him. The war is already won; the victory is already assured! The only question is whose side we are on. :)

Interestingly, the BibleGateway Verse of the Day (found as a widget on the upper right side of this blog) reads:

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. (Acts 20:24)

In obeying God I am often overwhelmed or discouraged. Lord, please remind me that it is YOUR strength and power that enables me to live for You. Then it would be quite easy to be brave.

Underground Warfare

Here's a journal entry of a man in deep spiritual warfare. From the book "Fight" by Kenny Luck.

http://ivarfjeld.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/mexico2.jpg

December 9, 2006

"It was a hot LZ [landing zone; military term]. I never stopped firing. I prayed for the destruction of the building by an earthquake as an event that would speak to this people about God's displeasure and create an openness to a witness of the gospel. I claimed every life I encountered for Jesus, every wood beam, and every brick. Alan and I acted like we were pointing and commenting when, in fact, we were praying warfare prayers. I have never seen this kind of paganism, and yet Jesus was with Alan and me. We could sense His presence and covering like Daniel and his friends did in the flames of the fiery furnace.

"We prayed against all powers, thrones, principalities, and evil raised up in this place against the knowledge of God. We prayed against the lies and bondage of these precious ones of God (“Woe to those who make My little ones stumble”). We asked for the destruction of all images and idols. We asked for God's kingdom to come. We asked for God to set these captives at our feet free. We prayed the Scripture from John 17:3: “That they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” We prayed for every cacique's [local mob boss'] mind and for the destruction of strongholds and patterns of thought. We prayed for miraculous signs that would cut through culture and communicate God's power like nothing else. We declared the drunken before us for Jesus and not for evil, that they would drink a new wine of the Holy Spirit.

"We prayed the Scripture. We prayed truth. We prayed in His mighty Name."

thesis it. ;)

Alryty, so I have so many questions about stuff. (Mainly love life hahaha.)

And ever the optimist, I just look at it this way:

At least, my thesis is doable.

Thesis it! The time, the funds, the energy, the attitude, the inclination, plus all the motivation to finally do it.

So help me God. :)

James 4:13-15:
     Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit” — yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.
     What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
     Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

April 26, 2012

All booked up :)

Yesterday I bought two books. (Yes, I'm a Jesus freak and a bookworm.)

One is from Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of the great preacher Billy Graham. Billy calls her the best preacher in the family. I can see why:

"My duties and responsibilities at times seem overwhelming
and my schedule is overfilled.
But I don't want a vacation,
I don't want to quit,
I don't want sympathy,
I don't want money,
I don't want recognition,
I don't want to escape,
I don't even want a miracle!...

"Just give me JESUS."

Yep. Forget the problems and even the blessings... Let's go back to God Himself.

The other book I bought is the popular contemporary Bible translation, "The Message". I've been "craving" for it for some time already --- from the verses I've heard, Mr. Eugene Peterson talks straight and talks street. God's Truth is supposed to be sharper than a double-edged sword and The Message does deliver that truth in a powerful and (for people who've read the Bible for years) fresh way.

However, there are (quite valid) oppositions to The Message, such as found here and here.

What to do? The same thing a good Christian, a good scientist, or any person for that matter should do. Check, test, verify.

The Christ-believers in Berea used the scientific method two thousand years ago:

"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." - The Book of Acts

Alrighty. Receive with an open heart ("great eagerness") but also an open mind ("examined to see if... true"). To apply to this situation, read The Message with "great eagerness" but continue to read the other versions of the Bible as well --- the others already established as authentic.

Any Bible translation is a human and therefore feeble attempt to record and resend the Word of God Himself. However, if it is True, then it would be able to shine a different facet of the same God-diamond.

That's it. Enough blogging. Now to sleep, and tomorrow, to read. :)

Sometimes we ask what to ask for

Don't know who to ask for help, or even what to pray for? Sometimes we also need to ask what to ask for. From Romans 8:

The Spirit helps us in our weakness.

We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit,
because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him,
who have been called according to His purpose.

God will be there

This song was a pleasant surprise when my brother and I saw the lyrics. (Thanks Myx for showing the lyrics and for playing "God" songs this hour. Not all songs were actually God-centered, but hey, appropriate enough for Holy Week.)

Yah Mo Be There
by James Ingram and Michael McDonald

Heavenly father watching us all
We take from each other and give nothing at all
Well it's a dog-gone shame
But never too late for change
So if your luck runs low
Just reach out and call his name, his name

Chorus:
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Whenever you call

Never be lonely lost in the night
Just run from the darkness
Looking for the light
'cause it's a long hard road
That leads to a brighter day (hey)
Don't let your heart grow cold
Just reach out and call his name, his name

[Chorus]

You can count on it brother
'cause we're all just finding our way
Travelling through time
People got to keep pushing on
No matter how many dreams slip away
Yah will be there

Well it's a dog-gone shame
But never too late for change
So when your luck runs low
Just reach out and call his name, his name

Got Hunger?

Was at tonight's last screening of "Hunger Games", with my parents and brother. ♥

Saw "Battle Royale" with some friends too, a few weeks back.

Still looking for a reasonable reason to send kids to their death, with one victor as the authorities' act of mercy and forgiveness. (My bro was shaking his head at the government documentary explaining all this.)

Are we overanalyzing and taking this movie too seriously? Maybe. But gladiatorial (anything but) games with favors from on high are not only seen in Greek mythology and pop culture. The Romans did it 2000 years ago, and today we still have government-sanctioned violent entertainment.

Yes there's the violent loss of life, but the Capitol's supposed act of mercy is what disturbed me more. (Yes, I know, it's just a story, but there must be convincing reasons for audience's suspension of disbelief. Or maybe I just feel like a panel member reviewing *someone's* thesis.)

To atone for their rebellion, they must give:

a sacrifice.

of blood.

of life.

yearly.

Act of mercy and forgiveness? The people are supposed to be grateful for the ritual murders in their lands?

The documentary in the movie also talks about the peace they attained at the cost of blood. Now that the land already has peace, the government still demands blood sacrifice.

Do we still do that?

Yes.

But Jesus said, "It is done."

He said, "It is finished."

Today is the start of Holy Week.

Hopefully we remember not just Jesus' death but His victory over death.

Hope we remember His sacrifice, not to add to it (like we can!),
but to give thanks.

In the movie, Katniss promises to be back for her sister. Kat gives all the reasurrance that she can, but she herself is not sure about what tomorrow will bring.

"Come to Me," Jesus says, "And I will give you rest."

 "Blessed are those who hunger, for they shall be filled."

"Whoever is thirsty, let him come to Me...
Whoever drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty again."

No empty promises, no mere good intentions.

With Jesus, we can truly be full.

The Leader/Follower Prayer

I ask for humility and submission
towards family, friends, and colleagues

When I need to lead, may I lead without dominating
When I have to yield, may I yield without compromising my principles

In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen.

The BIG GULP Prayer

In the past, my 'dangerous prayer' was, "Lord, please give me patience."
Nowadays it's humility. (He really grants these quickly.)

Dear Lord,
     Please remove my ego
     and replace it with Your Spirit
     and Your heart
All glory to You
     means accepting defeat and failure
     but also victory and success
     as long as You and You alone are praised

(Big gulp.)

Amen.

Just giving (back) the glory, the blessings

The NIV Student Bible explains:

David's prayer at the beginning of temple construction shows why he was a man after God's own heart. Despite all his achievements, he was deeply humble. He wanted glory to go to God, not Himself.

Here's the gist of the prayer from 1 Chronicles 29:

David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, saying,

Praise be to You, O LORD,
God of our father Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is Yours.

Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
You are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from You;
You are the ruler of all things.

In Your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

Now, our God, we give You thanks,
and praise Your glorious name.

But who am I, and who are my people,
that we should be able to give as generously as this?
Everything comes from You,
and we have given You only what comes from Your hand.

As for all this abundance that we have provided
for building You a temple for Your Holy Name,
it comes from Your hand,
and all of it belongs to You.

I know, my God,
that You test the heart and are pleased with integrity.
All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent.
And now I have seen with joy
how willingly Your people who are here have given to You.

O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel,
keep this desire in the hearts of Your people forever,
and keep their hearts loyal to You.

And give my son the wholehearted devotion
to keep Your commands, requirements and decrees.

Need Inspiration? :)

To "inspire" means to "guide by divine influence".

I have this small box of quotes and prayers from way back --- as in, fifteen years ago? It helped introduce me to God's Word and how to walk with faith in Him. Here they are below... hoping you would be blessed as well. :)

If you're encouraged, do pass these on! :)

Your ways, O God, are holy.
What god is so great as our God?
You are the God who performs miracles;
You display Your power among the peoples.
- Psalm 77:13-14

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And being with You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
- Psalm 73:25

Oh God, touch my heart today
And cleanse me from all sin,
Put your love and joy inside
And keep it safe within
Till someone comes along
And needs my help
To lift their loads today,
Then may I reach inside my heart
and give love and joy away.
- Mildred H. Bell

My Lord and my God,
take me from all that keeps me from You.
My Lord and my God,
grant me all that leads me to You.
My Lord and my God,
take me from myself and give me completely to You.
- St. Nicholas von Flue

Many, O Lord my God,
are the wonders You have done.
The things You have planed for us
no one can recount to You;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.
- Psalm 40:5 or 6?

Search me, O God,
and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
- Psalm 139:23

Just for today,
What does it matter, O Lord,
if the future is dark?
To pray now for tomorrow
I am not able.
Keep my heart only for today,
give me protection today,
grant me Your light
just for today.
- St. Therese of Lisieux

Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to Thy never failing care and love,
for this life and the life to come;
knowing that Thou are doing for them better things
than we can desire or pray for.
- Book of Common Prayer

O heart of love,
I put all my trust in You;
for I fear all things from my own weakness,
but I hope for all things from Your goodness.
- Margaret Mary Alacoque

Lord, have mercy.
Restore me to liberty
and enable me to so live now
that I may answer before thee and before men.
Lord, whatever this day may bring,
thy name be praised.
Amen.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

May all who seek You
rejoice and be glad in You;
may those who love Your salvation always say,
"Let God be exalted!"
- Psalm 70:4

I rise before dawn and cry for help;
I hope in thy words.
My eyes are awake before the watches of the night,
that I may meditate upon Thy promise.
- Psalm 119:147-148

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for You,
O God.
- Psalm 42:1

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
- Psalm 51:10

In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
Rescue me and deliver me in Your righteousness;
turn Your ear to me and save me.
Be my rock of refuge,
to which I can always go...
- Psalm 71:1-3

Not to us, O Lord, not to us
but to Your name be the glory,
because of Your love and faithfulness.
- Psalm 115:1

Let Thy steadfast love,
O LORD,
be upon us,
even as we hope in Thee.
- Psalm 33:22

Grant us O Lord,
to pass this day in gladness and peace,
without stumbling and without stain;
that reaching the eventide victorious over all temptations,
we may praise You, the eternal God,
who are blessed, and governs all things,
world without end. Amen.
- Mozarabic Liturgy

Praise the Lord, O my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God
as long as I live.
- Psalm 146:1

One thing God has spoken,
two things have I heard:
that You, O God, are strong,
and that You, O Lord, are loving.
- Psalm 62:11-12

Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in You.
Show me the way I should go
for to You I lift up my soul.
- Psalm 143:8

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
- Psalm 119:105

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
- Psalm 139:14

For You, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
- Psalm 116:8-9

You turned my wailing into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give You thanks forever.
- Psalm 30:11

Because Your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify You.
I will praise You as long as I live...
- Psalm 63:3-4

Teach us to number our days aright
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
- Psalm 90:12

Thanks be to Thee,
my joy and my glory and my hope and my God.
Thanks be to Thee for Thy gifts;
but do Thou preserve them in me,
thus Thou will preserve me,
and the things Thou hast given me
will increase and be made perfect,
and I shall be with Thee:
because even that I exist is Thy gift.
- St. Augustine of Hippo

Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Thy sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
- Psalm 19:14

O Lord, thou knowest how busy I must be this day;
I I forget Thee, do not Thou forget me.
- Sir Jacob Astley

To do Your will,
O my God,
is my desire;
Your law
is within my heart.
- Psalm 40:8

Spirit of the living God,
fall afresh on me.
Break me,
melt me,
mould me,
fill me.
Spirit of the living God,
fall afresh on me.

A Prayer for Righteousness

A Prayer for Righteousness

I pray for righteousness, O God,

in our beloved Philippines,

in the land of our birth.

For so long we have looked

at what our leaders do, or not,

at what our leaders can, or not.

We are so quick to blame them

for everything that goes wrong;

We are so quick to forget

every good thing they have done.

Forgive us, O God,

we, the citizens of the Philippines.

Long have we pointed or overlooked

our leaders' transgressions

yet refuse to change our own ways.

Long have we blamed our leaders

without taking responsibility for our own misdeeds.

Long have we suffered, and know it,

yet choose every day

the easier way,

to continue the way of slaves.

I pray for Your righteousness, O God,

for our leaders
,
but more importantly
,
for the rest of us.

Enlighten and enable us to do right

as parents, as children,

as teachers, as students,

as workers, neighbors, friends,

as leaders, as followers,

as one nation.

Lead us to the right path, O God,

forgive us for going astray.

Be the light in our midst

in the work of our hands

in the fruit of our crops.

May we indeed honor and live for You,
our One True King.

Amen and Amen.

Let's join the Three-Day National Fasting and Prayer for the Philippines

Intercessors for the Philippines
In cooperation with the Body of Christ in the Philippines

The Three-Day National
Fasting and Prayer Assembly

G U I D E L I N E S

The Three-Day National Fasting and Prayer Assembly (TDNFPA) is a three-day solemn assembly marked by fasting and prayer based on Joel 2:15-17. It will focus on: seeking the face of God and turning back to Him; knowing what God wants us as His people to be; and crying (confessing and repenting) for the sins that the Filipino people has committed during the past 490 years, since the Christianity and the cross was planted in Philippine soil.

Please go to http://www.ifphilippines.net/ifp/3dnfpa.php for the complete details.

God bless the Philippines! Mabuhay tayong lahat.

Praying and Fasting for the Philippines

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! I know you're already praying, but this is the time God is gonna pull down the SPIRIT OF CORRUPTION, and God is going to release the Spirit of truth and righteousness into this nation, because 'Righteousness exalts a nation.'

You can read the complete prophecy regarding the Philippines here:

Hope you can join in praying and fasting for the Philippines, especially with the coming national elections. I am forwarding this from a group of intercessors that started in our local church but is rapidly growing each day :) We sign up to pray and fast for one day each week, and we update each other (via text/email) about the specific issues we can pray for our country, and how God answers (a fiiting verse, personal revelation, even breaking news).

I just joined this week and it's been a big blessing to me already. Not only am I learning to honor God as a Filipino, but I also remember to pray beyond my own needs and wants. Like a fellow intercessor says, it's not about being a big burden but about joining God as He works in and through our nation in these critical times. :)

If you would like to join, just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/prayerwarriors2010/ :) Truly, we don't need to formally sign up, we can pray and fast where we are, but it's encouraging to hear about how God is speaking and moving through others as well :)

Thanks and have a great weekend!

More love, power, wisdom and truth,

Tessa :)
